About the Panel:
Authoring and peer-reviewing scholarly publications are both essential to the professional development of early-career researchers and, ultimately, their ability to form identities as academics and members of disciplinary groups. Yet few receive sufficient guidance in these areas, and it can make getting started a challenge, especially for those from underrepresented populations.
To build the support emerging scholars need to be successful requires first building bridges between early-career researchers and publishers. This panel aims to do just that. We’ll discuss:
- What support scholars need when submitting and reviewing research for the first time
- Ways to foster more diverse and inclusive early-career researcher participation in peer review
- Steps early-career researchers can take to develop their identities as authors and reviewers and gain confidence
