Virtual Panel: Finding a place in the peer review process

Join us for a discussion on helping early-career researchers form their identities as authors and reviewers

September 21st at 1:00 PM UTC

About the Panel:

Authoring and peer-reviewing scholarly publications are both essential to the professional development of early-career researchers and, ultimately, their ability to form identities as academics and members of disciplinary groups. Yet few receive sufficient guidance in these areas, and it can make getting started a challenge, especially for those from underrepresented populations.

To build the support emerging scholars need to be successful requires first building bridges between early-career researchers and publishers. This panel aims to do just that. We’ll discuss:

  • What support scholars need when submitting and reviewing research for the first time
  • Ways to foster more diverse and inclusive early-career researcher participation in peer review
  • Steps early-career researchers can take to develop their identities as authors and reviewers and gain confidence

The virtual panel will be broadcast from the official Peer Review Week YouTube channel and viewers are invited to submit questions via YouTube chat and comments.
